Using Ultreo for the First Time

To get the most of your new Ultreo, please keep these important points in mind:

• As ultrasound requires a fluid medium to perform effectively, try to keep as much fluid around the bristles as possible while you brush. If you suffer from dry mouth, take a small sip of water before you brush to help maintain sufficient fluid.
• Ultreo has been designed to work with a small “pea-sized” amount of toothpaste. Any toothpaste is acceptable. Gel toothpaste may be preferable as it tends to distribute more evenly around the mouth.
• Ultreo should be used with gentle pressure and a light touch. Applying too much pressure will result in a less effective, less comfortable brushing experience.
• Keep the bristles, not the waveguide, in contact with the teeth and gumline while brushing. The waveguide is not designed to be placed in direct contact with the teeth; its purpose is to channel ultrasound from the transducer in the brush head into the bubbles created by the bristle action.
• You may feel the waveguide touching your teeth at first. This is normal and most users report that the waveguide is not noticeable at all after the first few brushings.
• Rinse the brush head well with warm water after each use, concentrating on the area around the waveguide to prevent toothpaste build-up.
• After 3 months of use, the ultrasound output will begin to decline. Replace your ultrasound brush head regularly to ensure optimal performance.

Other Useful Pointers about Ultreo:

• Ultreo should be charged for 24 hours prior to your first use. It is then recommended that you keep your Ultreo in a plugged-in charger base at all times to maintain optimal performance. When fully charged, your Ultreo will last for 28 two-minute brushings without additional charging. The Ultreo charger base features a universal voltage and frequency for your convenience while traveling overseas.
• To program an Ultreo handle for use by 2 people, hold the power button down for 2 seconds while the handle is outside of the charger base. The LED display will switch from 1 to 2 lights. When 2 LEDs are lit, release the button.
